How To Determine The Size of Your Pool Table

Updated: May 22, 2023

Pool tables come in different sizes, with the most common options being:

1. 7-Foot Pool Table: The 7-foot pool table is a popular choice for home setups and recreational play. Its dimensions typically measure approximately 7 feet in length by 3.5 feet in width. This size provides a comfortable playing surface while requiring less space compared to larger tables. It is commonly found in game rooms, bars, and smaller recreational areas.

2. 8-Foot Pool Table: Considered the standard size for tournament play, the 8-foot pool table offers a larger playing surface, measuring approximately 8 feet in length by 4 feet in width. It provides a more challenging game and is commonly found in pool halls, tournament venues, and larger entertainment spaces.

3. 9-Foot Pool Table: The 9-foot pool table is the largest standard size and is primarily used in professional and high-level tournament settings. It boasts dimensions of approximately 9 feet in length by 4.5 feet in width. The larger playing surface allows for more strategic shots and requires ample space to accommodate the table's size.

If you are like me, you may have purchased a table awhile ago and have no idea which size it is. Knowing what size you have is crucial for purchasing the right Billight system.

How to Measure Your Pool Table:

The most precise method is to use a tape measure. Measure from one corner to another on a side rail like the picture below. See the chart to determine which size you have.
